Westmorland announces new facility with capacity for over 23 million items per year
Previously part of Reebok’s UK distribution headquarters, and five minutes from the M6, Westmor land have already commenced work on transforming the expansive Lancaster facility into one of the most modern and efficient commercial laundry and linen distribution centres in the UK.
When discussing Westmorland’s expansion, company operations director, Richard Turner, commented: “It’s fair to say that the building is impressive in its own right. However, investing substantially in a state-of-the-art 11 compartment 90kg batch washer, capable of washing 2,700kg of linen per hour puts us ahead of the game. Our facility will also offer four commercial ironing lines, an in-bag system, and two new large 200kg batch washers. I am incredibly excited about the possibilities that lie ahead.” Company managing director, Alex Mauro, also commented: “It’s no secret that we’ve been bursting at the seams for a while now. However, when we made the move, we wanted to ensure that it was the right one in terms of scale and location. We’re confident that our investment will place Westmorland at the forefront of the marketplace with an instant capacity to handle 500,000 items per week. From day one, we have remained focused on our promise of being a hassle-free, customer-focused service to the North West’s hospitality sector. It’s no secret that the industry is rife with poor service and lack of investment. Our investment is another step in achieving our ambition to be the preferred supplier in our sector.”
Westmorland intends for their new Lancaster facility to be fully operational for the beginning of November 2020.
