Textile Services Association (TSA) Autumn Conference: 21 and 22 October
Some superb speakers – led by Linda Plant, who’s been grilling contestants for Lord Sugar on The Apprentice for the past decade – will definitely provide talking points at the TSA Autumn Conference on 21 and 22 October.
Taking place at Hilton at St George’s Park, set in the grounds of the National Football Centre at Burton Upon Trent, this event is an industry must for those who want to find out the latest news and discuss key topics facing the sector.
The first day will include a supply partner meeting before the first speaker, Adrian Thomas of Via Vita, takes attendees through best practice when dealing with mental health issues and understanding the role of mental health first aiders.
Steve Bland of EcoVerify will explain why the TSA advocates using the Ecovadis platform for business sustainability ratings and ESG compliance, while Mark Cohen of WTW will focus on avoiding personal injury claims, managing contractors on site and the impact of mental health on adhering to safety practices and procedures. All that before dinner in the Sir Bobby Robson Ballroom!
The second day begins with a welcome from TSA chair Charlie Betteridge and an update on the association’s work by TSA CEO David Stevens. This precedes best-selling author TJ Power, who’s the lead neuroscientist at the DOSE Lab which created the framework (Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin, Endorphin)s and investigates how modern, sedentary, digital lifestyles are shaping our biochemistry.
Then it’s on to a look at key industry initiatives including Laundry Open Week, Infinite Textiles, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) on textiles, GLARE Reporting and the Supplier Portal Platform.
The morning session concludes with consideration of how we work with increasingly massive data and intelligent algorithms, as computer scientist David Pool reveals this fast-moving world.
After lunch Dr Olga Franczak from the Recruitment & Employment Confederation, will consider challenges and opportunities of employment as she shares a passion for tackling the root causes of discrimination – stereotypes and bias.
Then it’s the turn of that force to be reckoned with, Linda Plant, who’s bound to tell us about life as a business powerhouse, share some stories and perhaps some tips on how we might follow in her footsteps.
