Smart solutions
Saier is a leading international manufacturer of smart dosing technologies, microprocessor-controlled dosing pumps and intelligent sensors.
Founded in 1928 as a specialty electronics store by Wilhelm Saier, Saier is now in its third generation as an ownermanaged family business.
With nearly a century’s worth of electrical engineering experience, Saier is an unparalleled partner in the dosing technology industry. Built on 90 years of electrical engineering know-how and more than 60 years in the development and manufacturing of dosing technology, Saier offers solutions ranging from textile washing, commercial dishwashing, and facility cleaning to water treatment, swimming pool technology, and solutions for the food and agricultural industries.
The driving force behind Saier’s success is their expertise and an innovative spirit, flexibility, and a drive to address with competence and passion the challenges of a changing world.
Revolution in central dosing for on premise laundry
The company has been looking for a new way to make dosing liquid detergents safer, more efficient and more economical in recent years. After many years of research and development and tests, the dosing pump specialist now presents a revolutionary solution: the Saier MPX® Multidosing System.
Software controlled fine dosing of liquid detergent with only one pump
When washing textiles, a hygienic wash result is crucial. In addition to the choice of washing machine, a precise and efficient dosing system is a determining factor. In liquid detergent central dosing systems, individual dosing pumps for each detergent are usually lined up next to each other and mounted on the wall near the washing machine. If there is more than one washing machine in a room, there are often dozens of pumps installed. Since some of the pumps convey aggressive chemicals (alkaline to acidic) and are permanently in contact with the detergent, they must also be maintained at regular intervals and undergo a professional customer service.
The chemical attack on components, calcification and water pressure dependency creates inaccurate dosing and permanently increasing operating and maintenance costs.
10 years of development time
Saier Dosiertechnik GmbH presented the new system for the first time in 2019 at the CMS trade fair in Berlin. Since then, it has been continuously developed further and has already been sold in Central Europe in quantities well into the four-digit range. At that time, company owner Michael Saier released his latest development to the professional world for review and has since incorporated a great many further improvements into the technology from back then, allowing him now in 2023 to proudly say: “Yes, it was worth investing in this new technology.” Like many other product revolutions, the MPX® as it is used today did not look so promising in the beginning. Managing director Volker Brunner said: “In a large corporation, the basic idea of a completely new multiplexer for releasing the dosing channels would also have been given a first chance, but after the first major difficulties in the development and material selection process, the business case would have been sorted out very quickly as far too difficult and uncertain and abandoned.” Michael Saier had to fight some internal resistance, to the point that the project was at times considered a mere hobby of the owner. Brunner said: “But it was worth all the years of hard work and setbacks in development and solving material problems to be able to release a completely leak-proof liquid switch for the laundry operation.”
The MPX® ALL-IN-ONE multidosing system
The MPX® is an all-in-one multidosing system, according to Saier, “a revolution in central dosing for washing machines”. It is compactly built, consists of an integrated category five air gap system separator, a single pump and one to three ceramic multiplexers to supply the detergents and washing machines centralised and safely separated from the water line.
The hardware, software, interfaces and data management are all integrated. In addition, the system is easy and safe to use with quick installation in confined spaces. The user-friendliness and safety of the system are also important criteria for the new, low-maintenance and reliable OPL system. As well as the compact function safety, durability and minimum operating costs – with maximum hygiene. The MPX® dosing configurator and the web dashboard are efficient and save a lot of time and money. The system allows precise dosing, new detergent combinations are easy to implement as other detergent components can be added at any time without additional cost – all this for up to 13 products into a maximum of seven OPL machines.
A fast plug-and-play installation requires 80 per cent less time during installation, according to a company spokeswoman. The user-friendly SSC software allows the quick creation of dosing programmes, which can be copied and transferred at any time. This creates knowledge databases that promote team qualification and achieve excellent final wash results. With a durability of the components which was previously deemed impossible, as the system is completely rinsed with water immediately after the chemical dosing process. As a result an immediate separation from the partly aggressive detergents takes place and the maintenance costs remain low. Since 2021, the MPX® multi-dosing system can also be controlled smartly from a distance – accessible from anywhere. The remote web dashboard enables simple online consultation and, in practice, online precision dosing support without having to be onsite. The monitoring of actual use, hygiene reports and protocols can be followed visually via the web browser.
Owner and inventor Michael Saier said: “We worked on the MPX® for a very long time. Especially getting the patented ceramic multiplexers leak-proof was by far the greatest challenge. Many dismissed the idea as unfeasible and advised us to use conventional solutions for a new laundry dosing system. But we made it work extremely well.”
Marketing
The company has grown primarily in its core markets of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. As part of the ongoing international orientation, the strengths will now also benefit international customers and foreign branches of the local customers. As the number of MPX® systems already installed continues to grow, more and more OPLs in the DACH region are being managed with this advanced and economical technology. Klaus Engesser, business development at Saier said: “There is an enormous demand for multi-dosing solutions in Europe and throughout the world. We are increasingly visiting trade fairs worldwide to meet our users and customers and to be able to present our special features.
