Renzacci UK support The Berkeley with laundry refit
The Berkeley, one of London’s most iconic five-star hotels, set in the prestigious area of Knightsbridge, has recently undergone a complete refurbishment of their laundry facility, delivered by Renzacci UK.
This is part of The Berkeley’s extensive refurbishment project to refit and expand the hotel, which will boast an additional 59 rooms, along with a restaurant, spa, retail spaces and 13 private residential apartments.
Long-standing customer of Renzacci UK, The Berkeley wasted no time in appointing them as their laundry partner, to plan, oversee and deliver their entire laundry project.
Following a number of site visits with contractors and hotel management, Renzacci UK designed an entire new laundry layout, utilising their in-house CAD drawing service. Firstly, it was recommended that the laundry department was to be moved into a previously redundant area of their basement to allow for the hotel to use the previous laundry area for additional back-of-house projects. The CAD design also allowed for the staged increase in the hotel’s laundry processing capacity, in line with its expansion plans.
In particular, the hotel was keen to implement Pony’s range of best-in-class finishing equipment, as well as exploring the wetcleaning opportunity that the redesign allowed. A new Pony Formplus-S Tensioning jacket former and Pony MPT-D trouser topper were among some of the new machinery installed.
Jason Alexander, managing director at Renzacci UK, headed up the project. He said: “The laundry staff and management are delighted with their new laundry facility. Given the hotel’s plans to expand, we had to ensure their laundry facility could withstand the increase in demand, which their existing area didn’t. They were also keen to install environmentally-friendly machinery for processing guest garments, and the installation of wetcleaning machinery, which also doubled up as laundry machinery, was the right fit. The Berkeley are able to process more laundry and and more cost-effective rate, which is fantastic.”
Linen room manager of The Berkeley, Salvinija Barzdeniene, adds “Renzacci UK is a fantastic company to work with and I am highly satisfied with the service they provided. During the construction project, we communicated very closely with regards to the machinery installation and there were no doubts or concerns regarding service or timings. It is always easy to communicate with the team, and if we ever have a maintenance issue, they provide a very prompt service.”
