Looking ahead: The laundry industry in 2026 and beyond
With 2026 just around the corner, industry businesses will be firming up their plans for the next year. Innovations will already be in development – new products, new services, new focus.
So, what should the industry expect? The themes of sustainability, automation and digital are likely to be at the forefront for those best positioned to lead into 2026. Investment in smarter systems, cleaner and greener operations, and scalable service models will be the focus to stay competitive.
Some of the challenges experienced in 2025 are going to carry through to the next year. Labour shortages being a key one experienced right across the sector. A fluctuating energy market continues to put pressure on the bottom line too.

Next year also happens to be when CleanEx 2026 takes place. This is the only UK-based exhibition for textile care, laundry and drycleaning businesses to showcase their innovations in greener technology, AI and sustainable solutions.
Visitors from the world of commercial laundry, high street drycleaning, healthcare, housekeeping and hospitality, amongst many others, come to Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire to see the latest equipment, products and services on display, under one roof. Key players in the industry use the event to unveil their latest offering, as well as offer competitive show-only offers. CleanEx 2026 takes place over two days – Sunday 26th and Monday 27th April 2026.
Visitors can expect live demonstrations of machinery and equipment – many exhibits will have machines working so visitors can see them in action. Industry experts are on hand to offer guidance too.
