Finnish self-service opens its fourth launderette branch in Leeds
24 Laundrette UK Ltd (trading as 24 Laundromat), has opened its fourth UK branch in Leeds’ Merrion Centre.
Owned by Finnish parent company, 24 Pesula Oy, 24 Laundromat has already seen astonishing success in its Blackburn, Peckham, and Darlington locations. The opening of their Leeds launderette located within The Merrion shopping centre, marks their first launch within a major shopping centre, offering unrivalled convenience for their customers, who can now enjoy a browse around the shopping centre whilst waiting for their washing to complete its cycle.
The team behind the launderette chain invited locals to celebrate their newest addition at their meet and greet event in July which went down a storm. There was a definite feel of excitement about the introduction of 24 Laundromat to The Merrion Centre, and whilst customers went about the chore of doing their laundry, they were helped along by the 24 Pesula team from Finland and the UK, who offered Finnish chocolate. Sharing their Finnish heritage is something the 24 Laundromat team are extremely proud of, and it was great to see at their meet and greet event.
24 Laundromat was established in 1999 by the seven Nevala brothers after their interest in technology led them to identify a gap in the market between launderettes and high-technology machinery. With a combination of their data research and technical skills, the Nevala brothers were able to design completely new washing machines. So far, they have successfully opened over 50 launderettes in Finland and now four in the UK.
The Leeds branch includes multiple washers (including a specialised rug and pet bed washer), tumble dryers and secure drying lockers. Customers can also leave their washing to dry overnight in a secure locker, where they take the key.
With rising energy prices, 24 Laundromat provides its customers with a more cost-effective way to wash their clothes. Their affordable prices include the use of electricity, water, and their very own non-scented and allergy-tested detergent, saving their customers on energy bills.
Jarmo Kesanto, co-owner of 24 Laundrette UK, said, ”We are thrilled to open our next 24 Laundromat in UK. Adding to our existing locations in Morrisons supermarkets, this is our first location inside a shopping mall.
“Our business concept is copied from Finland, where 50 locations both in grocery stores and shopping malls are extremely popular. The customer feedback that we receive from our existing locations is incredibly positive and is driving us to continue growing our locations. The Merrion Centre have been supportive and helpful from our first point of contact, and we have established long-term partnerships with their teams working with us.”
