Welspun UK is the latest company to bring textile supply to the market for laundries and hotels.
Mumbai headquar tered Welspun is the largest privately owned company to be floated on the Indian Stock Exchange. They are the biggest manufacturer of towelling and bedding textiles in India, and the second largest in Asia, employing over 28,000 people worldwide. Annual turnover stands currently at US$3 billion, and the company has achieved double digit growth year on year since inception.
Founded in 1985, Welspun began in textiles and diversified into pipelines, bridges, motorway construction and other infrastructure projects. Expansion includes a state of the art flooring factory opened in 2019.
The company has a global footprint, with offices and showrooms in numerous locations, including USA, India, UK, Dubai and Germany, all supported by warehouse operations close to the customer bases to ensure smooth logistics. They supply into over 50 countries worldwide.
Welspun’s hospitality division has formed strong bonds with many global hotel chains and are key suppliers of towels, robes, bed linen and filled products to groups such as Hilton, IHG, Marriott, Taj and many more.
Flagship English brand Christy was bought by Welspun in 2006, beginning the company`s journey to become a key supplier to many of the UK`s retailers, via the supply of both Christy products and goods made under retailers` own branding. Christy still have their own high street stores countrywide. Now a new UK hospitality offering is available via this established company, with products all suitable for industrial laundering.
Christy Hospitality is aimed at the premium five-star market, with Welspun Hospitality geared towards the budget conscious laundry/ linen rental pool system. All products are manufactured with the same attention to detail and quality. Innovation leads the way with organic, charcoal/antimicrobial, and patented products such as Hygro cotton which increases in bulk and volume when washed, maintaining the fluffiness of towels for longer. There is a patented system to track the source of all cotton used in production, as the company has an ethical approach to business, focusing on the wellbeing of their staff and supply chain.
Among the first hotels to choose the new Christy Hospitality range is the five-star Gilpin Hotel and Lake House, near Windermere in the Lake District. Welspun are also delighted to be chosen to supply Christy Hospitality towels, robes and bed linen to the luxury Buxton Crescent Hotel in Derbyshire, opening in early 2020.
Products from both ranges are available to order now, and Welspun are also happy to discuss any bespoke projects.
