Life at leading chemicals manufacturer Christeyns is never dull. The end of June saw staff supporting the city’s Dragon Boat Festival in Saltaire, where a hardy crew of rowers braved the waters to raise money for local charities.

This year the event saw 110 teams from across the region Race the Dragon on the River Aire and the money raised went towards the Lord Mayors Appeal,  supporting the Down Syndrome Training and Support Services and the Wishing Well Appeal.

The Christeyns Cruisers, a team of 16, made it to the finish line without capsizing, led from the front by drum beating cox Beki Williams.  Christeyns  raised over £1,300 for the appeal and also assisted in the provision of the pontoon used for the three day event.

Donna Bolton, captain of the Christeyns boating team, commented: “It was hard work, very competitive but a really memorable and enjoyable event and the Boat House Pub supplied much needed refreshment at the end of the day.”
