WeCoTec, the new online laundry equipment brand launched last week by HJ Weir, has announced that for every machine sold via WeCoTec, a £50 donation will be made to the Marine Conservation Society.

The Marine Conservation Society is the UK’s leading marine charity. They work to ensure our seas are healthy, pollution free and protected.

Our seas are under immense pressure: too much rubbish is being thrown in and too little is being done to protect our precious wildlife. The Marine Conservation Society’s vision is for seas full of life where nature flourishes and people thrive.

Marine conservation society logoRoss Weir, managing director of WeCoTec takes his environmental, sustainability and social impact policy very seriously. He says: “The laundry industry focuses on minimising its carbon footprint, using the best quality linens to prevent microfibres in the sea, minimising chemical pollution and with Milnor systems minimising water and energy wastage. WeCoTec is a proud company supporter for the Marine Conservation Society. The team at WeCoTec hopes, that this inspires many more people in the laundry world to get onboard and make a difference.”

Under the banner WeCoTec “Part of Something Bigger”, WeCoTec is a newly established brand founded in March 2018 by Rob and Ross Weir of HJ Weir, who between them have a combined 61 years in the laundry industry.

The Weir businesses and the HJ Weir brand is a fourth generation family business. Ross' grandfather was a keen inventor and focused a lot of the business in the 1960’s and 1970’s on research and development, creating automated machines for large industrial laundries.

Henry John Weir (HJW) was the founder of HJ Weir and pioneer and originator of flatwork handling technology. One of the first machines Henry John Weir invented was Economatic Washroom Automation.

Weir said that the family of brands has gone full cycle, coming back to washers and dryers with WeCoTec in 2018. They have teamed up with Milnor USA to supply a complete range of high quality, durable and easy to use washers and dryers.

He added: “Across all Weir brands, we are now able to offer the excellent and complete range for all industrial and now, with WeCoTec, commercial laundry needs.

“The new company is founded on unrivalled experience and excellence across laundry businesses.”
